SSC GD Constable 2027: Form Window Closed? The Real Status — Correction Window, Exam Date and Preparation Steps

Everywhere on the internet you can read that the SSC GD Constable 2027 form's last date was 31 October 2026 — and lakhs of students fear they have missed the chance. Stop worrying. We checked the position carefully on 31 October 2026: SSC has not released the GD Constable 2027 notification yet. The form never opened — so it cannot have closed. You have missed nothing. This guide gives you the real status, what happens next, how the correction window will work, the expected exam date, the pattern, the physical standards and a preparation plan.

📌 Real status (checked 31 Oct 2026): SSC's calendar had planned the notification for 30 September 2026, with applications till 31 October 2026. But as of today, the notification has still not been published on ssc.gov.in. No application window has opened or closed. Vacancies, fee and correction dates will all be announced only in that notification. Keep checking the notice board on ssc.gov.in — the only place the real notice will appear.

What the Calendar Said vs What Actually Happened

The confusion comes from SSC's own calendar. A calendar is a plan, not a promise — and this year SSC has slipped on several exams:

EventSSC calendar saidStatus today
Notification30 Sep 2026 (revised calendar)Not released yet — expected any time now
Online applicationsThrough October, closing 31 Oct 2026Never opened, because the notification has not come
Correction windowOpens after applications closeWill come only after the real application window runs
Computer-based exam (CBT)January – March 2027 (tentative)Still the expected window; exact dates come later
VacanciesAnnounced in the notificationNot announced — any number online is a guess

Most websites copied the calendar dates into their pages months ago and never updated them — that is why their pages say "form closed" as if it really happened. Trust only ssc.gov.in.

What Happens Next — The Road Ahead

When the notification comes — reports say it is overdue and can arrive any day — the process will move in this order:

  1. Notification on ssc.gov.in — vacancies, dates, fee, age limit, every rule. Read it fully before applying.
  2. One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new ssc.gov.in — an OTR from the old SSC website does not work there. You can complete it right now; it stays valid for all SSC exams.
  3. Application window — a full month in the last cycle. Apply in the first few days.
  4. Correction window — a few days after applications close (explained below).
  5. Exam city intimation and admit card, through your SSC login.
  6. Computer-based exam — tentatively January – March 2027, in many shifts.
  7. Result, then PET/PST — physical tests run by the CAPFs (CRPF was the nodal force last cycle).
  8. Document verification and medical examination, then the final merit list. No interview at any stage.

The Correction Window — How It Works

There are no correction dates for GD 2027 yet — the forms have not opened. But know how the system works; the window is short and many students miss it:

  • SSC opens a "Window for Application Form Correction" a few days after applications close. In the last GD cycle (2026), applications closed on 31 December 2025 and correction ran from 8 to 10 January 2026 — just three days.
  • The correction fee in SSC's recent notices is ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second. At most two resubmissions; the fee is charged from everyone and is not refunded. The last version you submit counts.
  • Usually fixable: photo and signature (re-upload), category, address, qualification details, exam-centre or city preference — the notice lists the exact fields each time.
  • Locked: your registered mobile number and email. Basic OTR details are handled through the OTR profile, not this window — fill your OTR very carefully; a mistake there follows you into every SSC exam.
  • After correcting, print the final application again — that printout is your proof.

Exam Date — What We Know, Honestly

The SSC calendar places the GD 2027 exam in January – March 2027. Treat this as a tentative window, not a fixed date. The warning from the last cycle is fresh: GD 2026's notice scheduled its exam for February–April 2026, but it was actually held from 27 April to 30 May 2026. Your exact date, city and shift will come only through the exam-city intimation and admit card. So plan to be fully ready by January 2027, then adjust to the real date.

Who Can Apply — As Per the Last Official Notice

The 2027 rules will be printed in the 2027 notification. Until then, the last official notice (GD 2026, 1 December 2025) is the correct guide — SSC rarely changes these basics:

  • Education: Class 10 (Matriculation) pass from a recognised board.
  • Age: 18 to 23 years, counted on a cut-off date fixed in the notice (2026 cycle: 1 January 2026), with the usual relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, ex-servicemen and other categories.
  • Posts: Constable (GD) in BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and SSF; Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles; Sepoy in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
  • Vacancies: The 2027 number is not announced yet. For reference only, the 2026 notice had 25,487 vacancies. Do not believe any "expected vacancy" figure on other websites.
  • Application fee (last cycle): ₹100; women, SC, ST and ex-servicemen exempted. The 2027 fee will be confirmed in the new notice.

Exam Pattern (As Per the 2026 Notice)

PartSubjectQuestionsMarks
AGeneral Intelligence & Reasoning2040
BGeneral Knowledge & General Awareness2040
CElementary Mathematics2040
DEnglish / Hindi2040
Total — 60 minutes80160

Every correct answer gives 2 marks; every wrong answer takes away 0.25 marks; a blank costs nothing. The exam runs in English, Hindi and 13 regional languages. Note: 80 questions in 60 minutes is 45 seconds per question — speed matters as much as knowledge.

Physical Test — Train Alongside Your Studies

Written-exam qualifiers face the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). These were the 2026 notice's standards (the 2027 notice will confirm its own):

TestMaleFemale
Race (all regions except Ladakh)5 km in 24 minutes1.6 km in 8½ minutes
Race (Ladakh region)1.6 km in 7 minutes800 metres in 5 minutes
Height170 cm157 cm
Chest80 cm, with at least 5 cm expansionNot measured

Height and chest relaxations apply for Scheduled Tribes and some notified regions — the notice carries the full tables. The physical tests are only qualifying (they add no marks), yet every year strong written-exam candidates fail here because they started running too late.

A Simple Preparation Plan for the CBT

If the exam is held from January 2027, you have roughly two to three months — enough, if you work daily:

  • Reasoning: One topic a day — analogies, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, figures. The fastest-scoring section; learn shortcuts by doing questions.
  • GK & Awareness: Split time between static GK (polity, history, geography, basic science, awards) and the last 5–6 months of current affairs. Revise weekly.
  • Maths: Class-10 level — percentage, profit-loss, ratio, average, time-and-work, time-and-distance, simple interest. Learn a formula, then solve 30 questions of that type the same day.
  • English/Hindi: Choose the language you are truly stronger in — error-spotting, synonyms-antonyms, idioms, one-word substitution; or in Hindi, पर्यायवाची, मुहावरे, संधि और समास.
  • Mock tests: From the second month, two full mocks a week in exactly 60 minutes — then spend more time analysing mistakes than taking the test. With 0.25 negative marking, learn to skip what you do not know.
  • Previous papers: Solve the GD 2024, 2025 and 2026 papers — SSC repeats its question style.
  • Physical track: Run 4–5 days a week — distance first, then timing. Test yourself monthly.

✅ Do these three things this week: (1) Complete your One-Time Registration on ssc.gov.in and keep your registration number and password safe. (2) Keep documents ready — Class 10 certificate and marksheet, category certificate if applicable, photo and signature in SSC's sizes. (3) Start the plan above today. When the notification comes, only the form will remain.

6 Mistakes to Avoid Now

  1. Believing forwarded "notification PDFs". Fake and old notices circulate on WhatsApp and Telegram every season. A notice is real only on ssc.gov.in.
  2. Paying agents for "form correction" or "guaranteed selection". SSC takes money only on its own website — the application fee (₹100 last cycle) and correction fee (₹200/₹500). Anyone asking for money outside ssc.gov.in, or promising selection, is a scammer.
  3. Sharing your OTP or OTR password — with a cyber café, a "helper", or a caller. SSC never asks for an OTP on a call.
  4. Waiting for the notification to start studying. The syllabus is known and stable. Students who start after it get barely a month; you have two to three.
  5. Ignoring the physical test. A great written score is wasted if you cannot finish 5 km in 24 minutes.
  6. Making an OTR in a hurry. A wrong name spelling or date of birth in the OTR follows you into every SSC application. Fill it slowly, matching your Class 10 certificate.

FAQs

1. Has the SSC GD Constable 2027 form really closed on 31 October 2026?

No. That was the closing date in SSC's exam calendar, but the notification has not been released yet, so the application window never opened. You have not missed the form — it will open only after the notification appears on ssc.gov.in.

2. When will the SSC GD 2027 notification come?

SSC has given no new official date. Its revised calendar fixed 30 September 2026, and the latest reports say it is expected any time now. Treat every "notification out" message on social media as false until you see the notice on ssc.gov.in.

3. When will the SSC GD 2027 exam be held?

SSC's calendar places the exam in January – March 2027, but this is tentative — last cycle the exam slipped by weeks from its announced window. Be ready by January; your exact date will come with the admit card.

4. How many vacancies are there in SSC GD 2027?

Nobody knows yet — vacancies are announced only in the notification. The 2026 notification had 25,487. Figures like "25,000+" or "45,000+" on other websites are guesses, not SSC numbers.

5. What is the correction window, and what does it cost?

After applications close, SSC opens a short window to fix permitted mistakes in your form. In the GD 2026 cycle it ran from 8 to 10 January 2026. In recent SSC notices the fee is ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second, with at most two corrections. The GD 2027 notice will confirm its own dates and fee.

6. What should I do right now?

Complete your One-Time Registration on the new ssc.gov.in, keep your Class 10 documents, photo and signature ready, and start preparing — written subjects daily, running 4–5 days a week.
