Internet of Things — BTEUP Electrical 6th Semester Syllabus 2026-27

Internet of Things — What This Subject Is About

Internet of Things means everyday things — machines, meters, appliances — connected to the internet, sensing their surroundings and sharing data. This subject gives you the foundational knowledge of IoT: its architecture, components, networking, data handling and real-world applications, so you can understand and contribute to IoT systems across domains. It is Open Elective-3, Option 2: you choose either this subject or Project Management, or a certification course of not less than 20 hours.

The five units cover the introduction to IoT, design considerations, interfacing by IoT devices, data handling and IoT platforms, and applications, projects and the future of IoT. Interfacing and data handling carry the highest weightage at 22% each. Note the marks: this is a (Q) qualifying subject — 50 marks internal, 2 credits. Passing is compulsory, but the marks do not count for percentage or division.

Subject 6.4.2 (Open Elective-3, Theory) (Q) • 50 Marks internal • 2 Credits • L 2 – P 0 • Choose this OR Project Management • Qualifying only • 6thth Semester — Electrical Engineering • Session 2026–27

About this document: Open Elective-3 (6.4) is a (Q) qualifying subject — compulsory to appear and pass, but marks are not included for percentage and division. Choose either this theory course or Project Management, or a certification course (not less than 20 hrs) from the approved providers.
