Essence of Indian Knowledge and Tradition — What This Subject Is About
Not every subject in the diploma is about concrete and steel. Essence of Indian Knowledge and Tradition is about the knowledge system India built over thousands of years — the Vedas, the Upavedas, the Vedangas and the Upangas — and how that knowledge connects with modern science, yoga and holistic healthcare. It is an audit course, marked (Q): you must appear for it and pass it, but its 50 internal marks are not added to your percentage or division, and it carries no credits.
The subject has four units of 7 periods each: an introduction to the Indian Knowledge System, modern science and the Indian Knowledge System, yoga and holistic healthcare, and case studies showing the relevance of the Indian Knowledge System in modern times. No books list is given in the PDF for this subject. Alongside it, Student Centred Activities (SCA) carry 50 marks — and unlike the audit course, the SCA marks are counted in the semester total of 950.
Subject 4.10 (Audit Course, Q) • 50 Marks Internal (Qualifying) • SCA 50 Marks • No Credits • L 2 • 4th Semester — Civil Engineering • Session 2026–27
