BTEUP Previous Year Question Papers (Old Scheme): How to Download & Practise — 1st, 3rd, 5th Sem

Solving previous years' question papers is one of the best ways to prepare for the BTEUP odd semester examinations — you learn the paper pattern, the kind of questions the board asks, and how to finish in time. This guide shows you where the old BTEUP papers can be downloaded free, branch by branch, and how to practise with them the right way. But read the warning in the very next section first — it decides whether these papers help you or mislead you.

BTEUP previous year question papers — old scheme. For exam pattern and practice only; your topics come from the 2026-27 syllabus.

Read This First — The Honest Truth About These Papers

Every paper in the archive linked below is an OLD-SCHEME paper. They carry the old subject codes (for example 2187, 2041, 2109) and the old subject structure. The 2026-27 syllabus is restructured — subjects have been reorganised and renumbered (the 1st-year subjects are now numbered 1.1–1.6 and have no paper codes at all). So these old papers are NOT the current scheme's papers, and a topic that appears again and again in old papers may not even be in your syllabus any more. Use the old papers for exactly two things: (1) the exam pattern — how a paper is set, how much each question carries, what kind of language the board uses — and (2) practice on the topics that overlap with your 2026-27 syllabus. Your topic list — the only list that decides what you study — is the verified 2026-27 syllabus published on this website, subject by subject.

Two more honest points. BTEUP itself has no official previous-paper archive that we could find — the papers below sit on an unofficial archive website (see the next section), not on bteup.ac.in. And kamaldnp.com does not host these papers: they are scanned copies circulating on third-party websites, and copying another site's scans onto this website would be wrong both for copyright and for authenticity. This guide therefore links out to the archive — you download the paper there, free.

Where the Papers Are — Branch-Wise Links

The archive is gkpad.com, which lists BTEUP papers subject-wise and semester-wise (listings run from 2017 to 2025 on the pages checked on 29 October 2026) and states that its collection was gathered from the website of Government Polytechnic Hamirpur — we could not independently confirm that origin, so treat the archive as unofficial. Its download buttons open the paper PDFs, which are hosted on bteuponline.com. Pick your page:

Electrical and Electronics students share one combined "E-Branch" page on the archive — that is how the archive organises it; look for your subject name in its 3rd or 5th semester list.

How to Find Your Paper — Step by Step

Step 1. Open your branch page from the table above. Step 2. Scroll to your semester section (the archive groups papers semester-wise, then by academic year). Step 3. Find your subject — remember, the archive uses the old subject names and old codes, so match by the subject's topic, not by expecting your new subject name word-for-word. For example, the CSE 3rd semester list carries "Data Communication and Computer Network (2187)" and the 1st semester list carries "Applied Mathematics-1 (2041)", "Applied Physics-1 (2042)" and "Applied Chemistry (2043)". Step 4. Click the paper for the year you want (prefer the most recent years — 2024 and 2025 first). Step 5. The download button opens the paper as a PDF — save it and print it if you can; solving on paper, in exam conditions, works better than reading on a phone.

What a Real Paper Looks Like — The Pattern

So that you know exactly what you are practising for, here is a real paper from the archive, checked by us page by page: Data Communication and Computer Network (subject code 2187), January 2024. It is printed: Time: 2.30 hours; Maximum Marks: 50; Minimum (pass) Marks: 17. The paper has 5 questions (Q1–Q5); every question says "Answer any two of the following" and offers three sub-parts (a, b, c), each of 5 marks — so every question carries 2 × 5 = 10 marks, and the paper totals 50. The printed instructions on the paper include checking that the paper is in both languages and a ban on mobile phones and pagers in the examination hall. The questions themselves are dominated by short theory prompts — discuss, describe briefly, differentiate between, write a note on — with definitions and labelled diagrams where the subject needs them.

One caution: this is the last published (old-scheme) pattern. No new-scheme (2026-27) paper exists publicly yet, so nobody can honestly show you this session's paper format today. The marks and credits of your subjects follow the verified 2026-27 scheme in the syllabus posts on this website — check your subject's scheme there, and use the old papers to learn the style, not to guess this year's marks.

How to Practise With Old Papers — The Right Way

1. Syllabus first. Open your subject's 2026-27 syllabus post here and tick off the units. Only practise old-paper questions whose topics are still in your syllabus. 2. Pick recent papers. Solve the last two or three years available for each subject — the pattern repeats more reliably than individual questions. 3. Solve in exam conditions. Sit with a clock for 2.30 hours, no phone, and write full answers — the real papers reward structured, point-wise answers with diagrams, not one-line replies. 4. Check the style, not just the topic. After solving, re-read your answers against the prompt words: if the question said "differentiate", did you actually write differences in a table? 5. Note the repeats. Keep a list of topics that appear in most years AND are in your new syllabus — that overlap list is your highest-value revision list. Never prepare a topic only because it came in an old paper if it is not in the 2026-27 syllabus.

A Word of Caution About Paper Websites

Previous papers attract scam websites. The archive linked above is free — never pay any website for a previous paper, and never enter your enrolment number, date of birth or password on a paper-download website; downloads need no login at all, and the only place your student login belongs is bteup.ac.in. If an archive link ever stops working, go back to the archive's main index page (last row of the table above) and navigate from there — and tell us in the comments so we can update this guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these the question papers of the new 2026-27 scheme?
No. Every paper in the archive is from the old scheme, with old subject codes. No 2026-27 scheme paper exists yet — the first ones will be the papers you sit for. Use the old papers for the pattern and for practice on topics that overlap with your new syllabus.

Why does kamaldnp.com not give the PDF directly?
The papers are third-party scans hosted on the archive's own file host. Re-hosting another site's watermarked scans here would be a copyright and authenticity problem, so this guide links you to the archive instead — the download there is free.

Does BTEUP publish previous papers officially?
We could find no official previous-paper archive on bteup.ac.in. The board publishes the syllabus and the date sheet; the paper archives are maintained by unofficial websites.

Which years are available?
The archive's branch pages list papers from 2017 to 2025, grouped by semester and academic year (checked 29 October 2026). Prefer the most recent years for practice.

My subject's name in the archive is different from my syllabus. What do I do?
That is expected — the archive uses old names and codes, and the 2026-27 syllabus has reorganised subjects. Match by topic: if the old paper's subject covers the same units as your new subject, its questions on the overlapping topics are worth solving.

Will the same questions come in my exam?
Nobody can promise that, and you should not trust anyone who does. Topics and question styles repeat; exact questions may or may not. Prepare the full syllabus, and use old papers to learn how to answer.
