Project Management — What This Subject Is About
A construction project is not just concrete and steel — it is money, time and people, all managed together. Project Management is Open Elective-01, Option B (or you can take Disaster Management, or an Advance Skill Development certification instead). It is a 50-mark internal-only subject, so it does not add to the semester total — but it teaches the skill that separates a site engineer from a project manager.
The subject starts with what a project is and the scope-cost-time triangle, then moves to the money side — capital budgeting, cost estimates, break-even analysis, NPV, IRR and benefit-cost ratio — and ends with the biggest unit (30%): running the project day to day with CPM and PERT networks, time-cost trade-off and post-project evaluation.
Subject 5.6 (Open Elective-01, Option B) • 50 Marks Internal Only • 2 Credits • L 2 • Total NA — not counted in semester total • Choose this OR Disaster Management (OR Advance Skill Development) • 5th Semester — Civil Engineering • Session 2026–27
