Entrepreneurship and Start-up — BTEUP Civil 6th Semester Syllabus 2026-27

Entrepreneurship and Start-up — What This Subject Is About

Not every civil engineer works for someone else — some start their own contracting firm, consultancy or construction business. Entrepreneurship and Start-up is the 6th-semester subject that teaches you how. It is a theory subject of 100 marks and 2 credits, and it is as useful for a future contractor as any technical subject in the diploma.

The subject starts with what entrepreneurship is and the mindset of an entrepreneur, then moves to business ideas (types of business, stakeholders, e-commerce models, patents and SWOT analysis), from idea to start-up (market analysis, registration of start-ups in India, funding from MUDRA, PMEGP, CSR funds, angel investors and venture capitalists), pricing and cost analysis (break-even, cash flow, GST), and finally how to write a business plan.
